| Australia is the 2nd largest world market for the Toyota Land Cruiser, coming in behind the entire Middle East Region. The first Cruisers were brought to Australia for work on the Snowy Mountain Hydro-Electric Power Scheme in the early 1950's. Most of these original Cruisers have long since been scrapped... a few do turn up every now and again, but the legacy that these first Cruisers brought to this vast country can still be seen today. What initially seemed to be British territory, in the form of the Land Rover, quickly gave way to the little Tojo, as it was once called. The power, reliability and durability of the Land Cruiser saw them being used in every corner of Australia, from the lush Tasmanian bush to the top of Mount Kosciusko and through some of the toughest country on Earth...
